Director of Strategic Initiatives

Michael Creek is the Director of Strategic Initiatives with Working for Change, former Coordinator of the Toronto Speakers Bureau; Voices from the Street, where he has learned research, public policy and public speaking. Michael sits on the board of Inner City Family Health Team Saint Michaels Hospital. Michael sits on Ontario government’s expert panel on homelessness. He is a member of the Steering Committee on the City of Toronto- TO Prosperity Poverty Reduction Strategy. Michael is a member of the ODSP Disability Adjudication Working Group (MCSS). Michael is also a member of the Provincial Working Group Provincial Employment Strategy for People with Disabilities (MCSS),(MEDI).  Michael sits on the Ontario Mental Health and Addictions Council Members person with lived experience panel. Michael sits on the Toronto District School Board Task Force Enhancing Equity. Michael is honoured friend of Nursing 2014.     

Michael is a survivor of cancer, physical and mental abuse, homelessness, poverty. Michael speaks out and advocates on many health issues that affect those who live in poverty. 

Michael continues to work with marginalized communities and people and encourages them to speak out, that their voices can make a difference in shaping policy and planning with governments. Michael’s organization Working for Change was established in 1994 to respond to the need for employment opportunities for people with mental health issues.
